9 projects will be supported under the "Knowledge and Growth" competition

Ruse Free Spirit City Municipal Foundation announced the results from the “Knowledge and Growth” call for project proposals, implemented with the support of “Econt” Foundation. The 9 project proposals which have been approved will receive funding totaling 62 920 BGN. The approved project ideas are in the fields of science, education, new technologies and history.  

 

The submitted proposals were reviewed and evaluated by a committee, appointed by the Managing Board of the Foundation, consisting of:

 

  • Mr Strahil Karapchanski, PhD – Deputy Mayor for European Development in Ruse Municipality and Chairman of the Managing Board of Ruse Free Spirit City Municipal Foundation
  • Mrs Irena Petrova – Director of the Culture and Education Directorate in  Ruse Municipality and member of the Managing Board of Ruse Free Spirit City Municipal Foundation
  • Mrs Maria Georgieva – PR expert in Ruse Municipality and member of the Managing Board of Ruse Free Spirit City Municipal Foundation
  • Mrs Elena Minkova – Executive director of Ruse Free Spirit City Municipal Foundation
  • Mrs Mariela Koleva – Chairman of “Econt” Foundation

 

The project proposals were evaluated in two stages:

 

  1. Verification of administrative compliance and eligibility;
  2. Evaluation of the project proposal under the following criteria:
  • The project is related to the priority focus
  • The project clearly demonstrates how it will be useful to people
  • The project has clearly measurable objectives
  • The project creates conditions for the development of human potential
  • The project is applicable and has socially significant results
  • The project brings together different institutions and organisations to achieve a common objective
  • The project does not foresee activities which already receive financial support from the municipality and the state
  • The project has a detailed and realistic schedule of activities
  • The project has a realistic budget and a complete set of required documents
  • The project provides for own financial contribution from the applicant organisation
  • The project provides opportunities for continuation of the activities (project sustainability)

 

Priority was given to projects that bring together more than three institutions or organisations, projects which offer more than 50% own financial contribution and provide access to knowledge and skills to as many people as possible.

 

A total of 16 projects amounting to 413 937 BGN were submitted to the Foundation within the “Knowledge and Growth” competition framework.  The funds requested by Ruse Free Spirit City Municipal Foundation amounted to 172 156 BGN.
