A modern centre for construction of multi-rotor flying systems (drones) was officially opened today at the Baba Tonka High School of Mathematics in Ruse. The event was attended by Nataliya Krasteva – Deputy Mayor of Ruse Municipality and Chairman of the School Board, Daimitar Raynov – Head of Regional education management – Ruse, Prof. Diana Antonova, PhD – Deputy Rector of the University of Ruse “Angel Kanchev”, Elena Minkova – Executive Director of Ruse Free Spirit City Municipal Foundation, Marinela Koleva – Chair of the Managing Board of Econt Foundation and others.
The centre will connect the learning process and the extracurricular activities in the school with the latest computer technologies. It is funded with 17 100 BGN, provided by Ruse Free Spirit City Municipal Foundation, Econt Foundation, the School Board of Baba Tonka High School of Mathematics and Baba Tonka High school of Mathematics – Ruse. The project is implemented with the support of “Angel Kanchev” University of Ruse and its Electrical engineering, electronics and automation department.
The project aims to:
- increase interest in informatics, information technologies and physics;
- link theoretical knowledge and its practical application;
- organise high-quality experimental work in the informatics and information technologies practice exercises classes;
- create a team of prominent students for research and development;
- to present the different fields of application of multi-rotor flying systems and their use in contemporary life.
Students made demonstrations of the new equipment. The ambition of the school administration is to create a digital lab in the school where students will be trained to programme virtual reality.
