Eugène Henri Paul Gauguin (7 June 1848 – 8 May 1903) was a French Post-Impressionist artist who was not well appreciated until after his death. Gauguin was later recognized for his experimental use of color and synthetist style that were distinguishably different from Impressionism. His work was influential to the French avant-garde and many modern artists, such as Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse. Gauguin’s art became popular after his death; partially from the efforts of art dealer Ambroise Vollard who organized exhibitions of his work late in his career, as well as assisting in organizing two important posthumous exhibitions in Paris. Many of his paintings were in the possession of Russian collector Sergei Shchukin as well as other important collections.

Dessy Karagyozova to play at Carnegie Hall with the financial support of Ruse Free Spirit City Foundation

12-year-old Ruse pianist Desislava Karagyozova was guest at Ruse Municipality today where she met with Mayor Plamen Stoilov and Deputy Mayor Strahil Karapchanski. Mr Stoilov invited the talended young pianist to the municipality to wish her success in her upcoming performance in Carnegie Hall in New York.

The student of the National School of Arts “Prof. Veselin Stoyanov” will play at the legendary concert hall on March 29. There she will receive second prize which she has won in an international romantic music competition. Dessy is the only Bulgarian who participated in the competition.

Dessy will travel to New York with her mother Ralitsa Karagyozova and her piano teacher Daniela Kyurkchieva. The journey of the young pianist is financed by Ruse Free Spirit City Municipal Foundation within the Faces of Ruse Fund.

Mayor Plamen Stoilov said he believes Dessy will give a great performance at Carnegie Hall. “It is incredibly important to support the talented children of Ruse. “It is exactly ambitious young talents like Dessy that will contribute to establishing our city as a cultural capital”, said Mayor Stoilov.

Deputy Mayor and President of the Ruse Free Spirit City Foundation Strahil Karapchanski emphasized that the aim of the Faces of Ruse Fund is precisely supporting citizens of Ruse with talents in the sphere of culture and art who promote our city performing at world stages.

At the end of the meeting Mayor Stoilov presented the young pianist with a beautiful bouquet, a flag with the emblem of Ruse and an icon of St. George to protect her and give her strength for future success.
