Eugène Henri Paul Gauguin (7 June 1848 – 8 May 1903) was a French Post-Impressionist artist who was not well appreciated until after his death. Gauguin was later recognized for his experimental use of color and synthetist style that were distinguishably different from Impressionism. His work was influential to the French avant-garde and many modern artists, such as Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse. Gauguin’s art became popular after his death; partially from the efforts of art dealer Ambroise Vollard who organized exhibitions of his work late in his career, as well as assisting in organizing two important posthumous exhibitions in Paris. Many of his paintings were in the possession of Russian collector Sergei Shchukin as well as other important collections.

Football tournament gathered 11 teams from 5 Ruse schools

11 teams from 5 Ruse schools participated in the football tournament, which took place at Sports Complex “Olimpia”. The event was part of project “Together in Sport – Friends in Life” implemented by Primnary School “Lyuben Karavelov”, financed by Ruse Free Spirit City Municipal Foundation and BH – Social Project of Econt within the framework of the “Ruse – European City of Sport 2016” campaign.

A total of 110 students from 5 Ruse schools participated in the football tournament. The teams were divided in three age groups: grade 3-4, grade 5-6 and grade 7. Parents and physical education teachers also demonstrated their football skills. The winners in the tournament were awarded cups and medals. Five individual prizes were also awarded.

The project aims to create lasting ties among the schools in Ruse and to foster understanding and positive relations among teachers, parents and students.
