Eugène Henri Paul Gauguin (7 June 1848 – 8 May 1903) was a French Post-Impressionist artist who was not well appreciated until after his death. Gauguin was later recognized for his experimental use of color and synthetist style that were distinguishably different from Impressionism. His work was influential to the French avant-garde and many modern artists, such as Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse. Gauguin’s art became popular after his death; partially from the efforts of art dealer Ambroise Vollard who organized exhibitions of his work late in his career, as well as assisting in organizing two important posthumous exhibitions in Paris. Many of his paintings were in the possession of Russian collector Sergei Shchukin as well as other important collections.

Roller Fans from Bulgaria and Romania gather in Ruse

More than 100 roller fans participated in the National Rollerfest Ruse 2014, that our city hosted this weekend. The slogan of the event was “Let’s Rollerskate together in Ruse and Bucharest”. It was organized by Roller Club Ruse and Roller Club Bulgaria with the support of Ruse Municipality and Ruse Free Spirit City Municipal Foundation.

The roller festival was officially opened by Mayor Plamen Stoilov on Saturday. “I believe it is vital to motivate young people to participate in sport. It is important for Ruse to host such attractive events which reinforce its image as a city of free spirit and positive energy”, said Mayor Stoilov in his address to the participants. The festival started with a roller skating parade on the streets of Ruse and then continued in Park Herastrau in the Romanian capital. Roller skaters from Ruse and guests from seven other Bulgarian cities took part in the fest.

In the second day of the roller fest there were racing games for kids and adults, as well as slalom competitions for amateurs.
