“Bryag” Foundation announces a school competition “The good news in my school, my neighbourhood, my city” in two age categories: grades 1-4 and grades 5-8. The works should be up to one page and should be sent to e-mail: editor@briag.bg until February 28, 2018.
The news will be evaluated by a jury, consisting of two journalists and a pedagogue. They will be included in a collection of the same topic and will be published in “Bryag” newspaper - Ruse.
The winners will be awarded a tablet, a camera, books and reader’s cards for “Lyuben Karavelov” Regional Library. The award ceremony will take place at a big children’s celebration in March 2018.
The contest is part of project “Good news, bad news, fake news in media and social networks”, which is implemented under the “Knowledge and Growth” Programme of Ruse Free Spirit City Foundation with the support of Econt Foundation.
Within the project framework, children from fourth, fifth and sixth grade of “Otets Paisii” Primary School had the opportunity to learn how to find good news and how to tell fake news apart from real ones. They also received guidance on how to verify that what they hear, see and read in the media is real and learned that they should not trust unverified information. They were also introduced to the basic rules of journalism writing.
