Eugène Henri Paul Gauguin (7 June 1848 – 8 May 1903) was a French Post-Impressionist artist who was not well appreciated until after his death. Gauguin was later recognized for his experimental use of color and synthetist style that were distinguishably different from Impressionism. His work was influential to the French avant-garde and many modern artists, such as Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse. Gauguin’s art became popular after his death; partially from the efforts of art dealer Ambroise Vollard who organized exhibitions of his work late in his career, as well as assisting in organizing two important posthumous exhibitions in Paris. Many of his paintings were in the possession of Russian collector Sergei Shchukin as well as other important collections.

The University of Ruse team in SHELL ECO-MARATHON EUROPE 2014

The University of Ruse team was the most successful Bulgarian team in its first participation in the prestigious automobile race shell-Eco-marathon Europe 2014, held in Rotterdam, The Netherlands from May 15 - 18. The Ruse “rocket” run by the 21- year- old Suzan Mehmedova and the 23-year-old Victor Stoyanov got 168 km with just 1kwh. Our team finished 23rd in the general ranking.

49 European teams took part in the race as 20 of them were out of the competition after the vehicle technical inspection.

For its participation in the race the Ruse team – 15 people including teachers and students created a unique electromobile which because of its attractive look was called “The rocket”. The invention of the machine and the team’s participation in the race was financedbyRuse – Free Spirit City Foundation.

Shell Eco-marathon is one of the most innovative and challenging races for school and university students from all over the world held every year in Europe, America and Asia. Its goal is to motivate young people to contribute to reducing the harmful emissions, as they find decisions for sustainable mobility as an answer to the global energy challenge.
